It is week 7 already, hope everyone is doing well on midterms and are staying warm and healthy! Thank you for everyone who helped table last week. We hope you guys had as much fun as we did.

Member dues: $15 for the rest of the year OR $10 per quarter
Included with the payment, you will receive a PDS t-shirt, PDS binder with helpful information on becoming the best dental school applicant, and free rides to any PDS event (including social events and pre-dental conferences). o Multiple Mini-Interview (MMI) format. Come learn about this unique interviewing style through first-hand practice.

· CDA Cares Free Dental Clinic: Saturday May 18 & Sunday May 19th at the San Jose Convention Center.

· PDS will also have a carpooling list for this event, look for more information as the event gets closer!
· Community Aid & Recourses (CARe) Full-Scale Clinic: Saturday, March 2, 2013 11:00AM-2:00PM @ the Homeless Serves Center
· About CARe: A student-run free clinic and volunteer organization in Santa Cruz county that provides health services and advocacy for the underprivileged people of Santa Cruz.
· PDS will have a table at this event where we will be giving free toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and local resource information to the homeless. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the Santa Cruz community!
· UCSC Stewardship Program: Volunteers for Ecological Restoration
· Sunday, February 24th 11:00AM-2:00PM: Meet at the Recital Hall Loading Dock to help remove exotic/invasive plant species from campus grounds and learn about the native plant and animal communities on campus!
Pre-Dental Conferences and Events
· Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) applications are DUE ON MARCH 1ST! This program is a FREE (full tuition, housing, and meals) six-week summer academic enrichment program that offers freshman and sophomore college students intensive and personalized medical and dental school preparation. · 6th Annual Impressions Undergraduate Dental Outreach Conference at the University of California, San Francisco inSaturday, May 4th from 8:00am-5:30pm
o Collaboration between the Student National Dental Association (SNDA), the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and the Hispanic Dental Student Association (HDSA) Chapters at UCSF. The purpose of the Impressions Conference is to expose and excite undergraduate students from diverse/underrepresented backgrounds and/or underserved communities in the Bay Area about dentistry and to provide information about applying to dental school.

· UoP Pride Day (Same day as SoCal Dental Information Day)
A day long event at the University of the Pacific Dental school in San Francisco, CA. April 20, 2013 from 9:00AM-3:30PM. This event is for prospective students and their families to learn more about the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and its curriculum. Lunch with the dean and current students will be provided as well as tours of the school and some hands on demonstrations.

· SoCal Dental Information Day 2013: Sponsored by UCSF Dental School. On Saturday, April 20th at The Grand- Long Beach Event Center (Longbeach, CA). This will be a great opportunity to network with current dental students, faculty, and admissions representatives from UCSF! The event will include information about the various roles that dentists have, career specialization, how to prepare yourself for admission to DDS program at UCSF, and hands on activities lead by current dental students.

· Inside UCSF: April 26-April 27 This exciting and informative two-day program offers a chance for prospective students to become inspired about pursuing a health sciences career at UCSF. Weekly Board Meetings
Everyone is welcome to come and sit in during PDS board meetings to give your input on future events. This is also a great opportunity to get involved and see what the roles of each board member is, incase you are interested in a future leadership role in PDS. Email PDS ahead of time if you are interested, just in case the meeting is rescheduled and/or cancelled!
